I had a friend's baby shower recently - mind you, I knew she was pregnant for about 6 months at that point, but I could not make up my mind on which gifts were the 'perfect' ones to knit up. With less than a week to go until the shower, I finally started the project - a layette!
I knitted on the train to and from work, at lunchtime, and late into the evening, and was done with everything by the morning of the shower - except the blanket! Thankfully, we had a 2+ hour drive to the Hamptons. I packed all the gifts and brought extra tissue paper for the blanket, and finished it an hour and a half into the drive up.
She loved everything, at least, and got a kick out of the fact that the blanket had just come off of the needles a few hours before!

I was finishing a picture quilt for my son's college graduation. The week prior to the ceremony I was taking a falconry class not far from his campus. I was attending my class by day and quilting in my hotel at night. My fingers were bleeding and my leather thimble expired. The next day we were crafting leathers for our falcons feet and I asked if I could use the leather punch and a scrap to fashion a thimble. It looked funny but worked perfectly. I also ran out of thread, but one of the instructor's wife was in the upholstery business and able to provide the right weight and color. The quilt was finished on time and my finger survived.

I knit a baby sweater for 27 hours straight, only stopping for food and restroom breaks!
Only to have the receiver flake out and not ever show to pick it up! I was not a happy camper to say the least :(
