OFFICIAL RULES
1. This contest runs from May 4, 2000, through September 1, 2000. To be eligible, entrants must write a short (350 words or less) statement about their favorite golfing ploy, and must submit their statement to us via e-mail on or before the contest deadline: Midnight September 1, 2000. Any entries received after the deadline will be ineligible to win.
2. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter by sending your statement via the online contest form or directly via email to knopfwebmaster@randomhouse.com. Statements will not be returned. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON
3. Winners will be chosen based on merit. Winners will be notified via e-mail.
4. This contest is only open to residents of the United States. Employees and family members of employees of Random House, Inc., including its affiliates and subsidiaries, are not eligible to enter. This contest is subject to all federal, state, and local regulations. Offer void where restricted or prohibited. Random House, Inc. will not be responsible for payment of taxes on the value of any prize awarded hereunder.
5. The winner (identified by first name and last initial, city and state only) will have his or her story published in the first paperback edition of Jon Winokur's HOW TO WIN AT GOLF. Winners will not receive payment or compensation of any kind for the publication of their stories. Entering the contest constitutes permission for Pantheon Books and Vintage Books (in Pantheon Books or Vintage Books' sole discretion) to use the winner's statement in the book, and to sell and distribute, market, excerpt, and exercise all other rights to the book throughout the world with no compensation to the winner. Any winner who is less than 18 years old will be required to furnish consent to this use by a parent or legal guardian. Other entry names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation.
6. We are not responsible for entries that are late, misdirected, lost, garbled, unintelligible including those due to computer or network malfunction or congestion (including at Random House), and any such entries are ineligible.
