The year 1997 was the best for me, Chantal Williams. My basketball team,
Pal, was undefeated. The leaders of the team were Hanah, Amy, and me.
Our first game, we won by sixteen points. The next game, we almost lost the game, but then we started to play really good defense. We caught up with them--the game was tied at forty-two.
One of the girls on the other team made a nice layup. Their team was up by two points. Another girl from the other team stole the ball from us. The girl took the shot, but Amy blocked it and passed the ball to me. Then I passed the ball to Hanah and she took a shot and made it! It was a three-pointer that went straight through the hoop!
It was the last quarter; the clock was on 3:42. I brought the ball upcourt and passed it to another girl on my team, Liz. She dribbled in the middle, took a small jump shot, and made it.
Now the clock was on 1:43. Any stole the ball from one of the girls and went upcourt to make a shot. It went in!
The other team called a time-out. When their time-out was over, it was their ball. One of the girls passed the ball to her teammate. They took a shot and made it.
It was our ball, the clock showed 42 seconds left, and we went downcourt. I passed the ball to Hanah and she passed the ball to Amy, who took a shot and made it off the backboard.
There were sixteen seconds left on the clock. It was the other team's ball. One girl went for a shot and missed it. Hanah caught the rebound and went downcourt. She passed the ball to Amy, who made the shot right at the buzzer! We won the game and were in the playoffs.
