1. First kiss with Richie Mishkin who went on to play bass for Lou Reed. Documented for posterity after 6th grade birthday party at Morgen's.
2. Even with braces, my friend Starr Brin and I spent part of every
Saturday in the photobooth. We hoped the pictures would help us get
"discovered".
3. Harry Wein (a.k.a. The Weinus) was my 10th grade hearththrob. He
drove a 1949 DeSoto (a.k.a. The Lump). Our names are written in lipstick
on the back of the photobooth.
4. His name was Jason Zellner and we were just friends. He became a gynecologist and had a sister named Blossom Zellner. That's chewing gum in my right hand.
5. Marjie Saunders and I met our first day of college. We did Europe on
$5 A Day together. I love her and read anything she tells me to.
6. London. 1964. A Beatles haircut at Vidal Sassoon. The blonde streaks were called "frosting". Wisps of hair were pulled through a bathing cap with a crochet hook and bleached. It hurt like hell.
7. Samuel Howard Freedman, where art thou? Sweet Sam, how did I let you
slip through my fingers? A reward for anyone who finds Sam.
8. When the movie "Love Story" came out, every girl in New York started
wearing a hat like Ali McGraw. Even Jackie.
9. We didn't have money for real Christmas cards so we xeroxed this and stuck it on postcards. The one with his eyes open is my son Peter.
10. 1992. My daughter Polly and I are in the Paris metro trying to look, ow you say?, trés French.
11. M-wah!
