Ballantine Celebrates
TAKE OUR DAUGHTERS TO WORK DAY
by Publishing Five Exciting Stories by Our New Young Authors

New York, April 25

In celebration of Take Our Daughters to Work Day 1996, the Ballantine Publishing Group will print a series of limited-edition books by the daughters (and other relatives) of Ballantine employees. The books are fiction, written by girls ages 5-12, and were contracted for, written, edited, copy-edited, typeset, proofread, designed, and produced in the course of a single day. (It was a busy day, but no busier than days often are in the New York City offices of Ballantine.)

A creative writing session in the morning was followed by a sales conference at lunchtime and a behind-the-scenes tour of the publishing process in the afternoon as the girls followed their books through the process of publication, finishing with the five unique titles:

THE ADVENTURE OF ADVERB THE CAT by Natalie Braun

SAMANTHA'S DAD by Samantha Gil

NOTHING by Adrianna May Hitchins

OCEAN by Caitlin Lock

MY BIRTHDAY by Stephanie Zazzera

The entire series will be featured on the Random House Web site (http://www.randomhouse.com/) in the next week as part of the Ms. Foundation's daughters' web page initiative.

The Ballantine Publishing Group, long a force in the field of Young Adult fiction, is proud to have published these books by our many young readers.
