    Annie Barrows on literary meandering

Guernsey author Annie Barrows has written a guest blog for about “literary meandering”, the path that leads us from one book to another.

Check it out here, and let us know what you think! What was the sequence of books that brought you to Guernsey?

“That’s what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you onto another book, and another bit there will lead you on to a third book. It’s geometrically progressive — all with no end in sight, and for no other reason than sheer enjoyment.”
This quote resonated with me. I find a book that I enjoy and then read others on similar topics and then go on to other books by those same authors and so on….all with no end in sight! Literary meandering – what a great phrase!
Our book club liked the idea of having everyone reading a different book and bringing our comments to the whole group. This was born of necessity on Guernsey during WWII as they couldn’t get enough copies of one book for everyone to read, but we decided that we would give it a try for our October meeting. It may open up more avenues for meandering…
