3. From DNA to protein. DNA is transcribed in the nucleus into messenger RNA, which is then exported to the cytoplasm for translation into protein. Translation occurs in robosomes: transfer RNAs complementary to each base pair triplet codon in the messenger RNA deliver amino acids, which are bonded together to form a protein chain.
