November 22, 1963: John Kennedy assassinated in Dallas.
November 24, 1963: Jack Ruby shoots and kills Lee Harvey Oswald.

January 7, 1964: "COVERT TAPE-RECORDING TRANSCRIPT"

July 2, 1964: President Johnson signs Civil Rights Act of 1964.
August 7, 1964: Gulf of Tonkin Resolution passed by U.S. Congress, granting president authority to use whatever means necessary to defend South Vietnam.

February 21, 1965: Malcolm X assassinated.
March 2, 1965: Operation Rolling Thunder, U.S. bombing raids begin to fly over Vietman -- The Operation continues for three and a half years. Approximately 182,000 North Vietnamese civilians will be killed.
