Welcome to the November issue of Potter Craft News!

Dear Crafters,

Phew—October flew by. We were working and playing extra hard this month. Some highlights included Stitches East in Baltimore, MD, and the New York Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck. Stitches East marked the kickoff to Kaffe Fassett’s tour, and it was really amazing to hear him speak to a completely rapt audience.

Rhinebeck provided a totally different but completely amazing experience. There are plenty of wrap-ups on the blogosphere about the picture-perfect weekend, so I won’t delve too deeply here. A couple highlights were seeing a huge line for Clara Parkes as she lovingly signed copies of her first-ever brand-new book, The Knitter's Book of Yarn, sharing much silliness with Kay and Ann, reconnecting with Margrit and Albrecht at Morehouse Farm, and meeting Jessica and Casey from Ravelry, who hosted a lively party.

No doubt November will be as packed with as much fun as we gear up for the holidays. With any luck (and a lot of planning), I’m going to make my holiday gifts this year. The books featured this month will certainly provide lots of inspiration for the gift itself, but also fun ways to show off the presentation. I hope you find something that inspires you.

Happy crafting!

Rosy Ngo, Editorial Director

The Knitter's Book of Yarn

For every knitter who has asked the question, “What can I make with this yarn?” here at last is the definitive guide to understanding and selecting yarn. Clara Parkes, of KnittersReview.com, breaks it down into the essentials, focusing on the most common types of fibers and how their qualities impact yarn’s behavior. And because knitters learn best by doing, the book includes 40 patterns by knitting’s biggest stars, including Cat Bordhi, Tara Jon Manning, and Teva Durham.

* FIVE WINNERS * will be randomly selected to win a copy of Odd Ball Knitting by Barbara Albright. E-mail crownmarketing@randomhouse.com with "Odd Ball Knitting " in the subject line. (Official contest rules)
