Comments Ron Carlson
"Happiness"
2016 O. Henry Award-winning Author

Of course all these stories in the O. Henry all these years are more than armchair entertainment; they have always shown us who we are, the many faces of who we are. Stories are the currency of an evolving society; we exchange stories to know each other better. I'm happy and humbled again to have a story as part of this vital and ongoing tradition. You want your story to go forward; being in The O. Henry Prize Stories is a deep pleasure.

Writing Tips

What you want is to be writing and in the second half hour something comes into your story which you didn't know was even in your head, and you believe it and begin to follow as the old world opens again.

Writer's Desk
