GENERAL

How do I write to an author?
Send your letter to the author in care of our publicity department at the address above. Your letter will be forwarded.

Unfortunately, we cannot forward e-mail to authors, nor can we give out authors' e-mail or postal addresses. You may want to check the "About Our Authors" page to link to some of authors' websites where you may be able to e-mail the author directly.

Can I submit my manuscript to WaterBrook Multnomah ?
Due to limited openings in our editorial list, WaterBrook Multnomah, including the Shaw Books imprint, is no longer giving consideration to unsolicited materials unless presented to us by literary agents.

Sorry, no. We do not accept queries via e-mail or otherwise.

Can you recommend an agent for my work?
We do not make agent recommendations. If you are looking for an agent, two good resources to start your search with are The Literary Marketplace and Sally Stuart's Christian Writers Market Guide 2008 edition.

Can you tell me more about how to get published?
The best thing you can do is learn as much as you can about how publishing actually works. One of the best resources for information is your local library. There, you should be able to find books that explain the publishing process from beginning to end.

We know you put a great deal of effort into your work. As you pursue other avenues of publication, we recommend these resources to assist your efforts:

PERMISSIONS & REVIEWS

How can I get permission to use part of a book?
In order to process your request as quickly as possible, please provide us with the following information:

  • Title and author of WaterBrook Multnomah publication
  • Page numbers from the title where excerpted material appears. You may also send us photocopies of the pages where the excerpted portions appear
  • How the material will be used (i.e. Bible study handout; an excerpt in a book, newsletter, or magazine)
  • For groups and individuals: total number of copies you wish to make
  • For magazines, newsletters: total circulation of your magazine
  • For books: total anticipated print run of your publication in which our material will appear
  • For books, magazines, newsletters: your retail price or subscription fee, if any
  • Nonprofit status, if applicable
  • Any time considerations we should be aware of
  • Any other information that may be unique to your request

A permission fee may apply based upon the quantity of material excerpted and the total print run.

Please send your written request with above information to the attention of the Permissions Department at our address or fax to 719-590-8977. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

How can I order books?
WaterBrook Multnomah books are available wherever books are sold. We do not sell books directly to consumers, but we can help you find a bookstore online or in your neighborhood. How do I find an out-of-print book?
Our online catalog only carries a listing of WaterBrook Multnomah books currently in print. A good source for information on out-of-print books is Bibliofind.

I'm a ministry or corporation. How can I buy books in bulk quantities?
Most WaterBrook Multnomah products are available in special quantity discounts when purchased in bulk by corporations, non-profit organizations and special interest groups. Custom imprinting or excerpting can also be done to fit special needs. Please call (800) 603-7051 or email specialmarkets@waterbrookpress.com Please note there is a $500 order minimum (retail value) to open an account. Existing accounts, can also contact customer service at (800) 733-3000.
