I. HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter by signing up fo rBOTH the Eragon and Strange Lands Newsletter on http://www.randomhouse.com/teens/eragon/signup.htm no later than September 10, 2004. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. If you have already signed up for BOTH the newsletters you may enter by sending and e-mail telling us why you love Eragon. Random House is not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, stolen, postage due, incomplete or misdirected entries.
II. ELIGIBILITY
Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the United States who are over the age of 13 on September 10, 2004. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of Random House Inc., its parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, and their immediate family members, and persons living in their household are not eligible to enter this sweepstakes.
III. PRIZES
There will be five (5) first prizes. Five first prize winners will receive an autographed copy of Eragon (0375826688). (Approximate retail value $18.95 US).
IV. WINNERS
Winners will be chosen on or about September 15, 2004 from all eligible entries received by Random House Children’s Books. The winners will be picked randomly from all entries received. Odd of winning are based on number of entrants.
Winners will be notified by e mail on or about September 15, 20044 and winner and winner’s parent/legal guardian will be required to sign and return affidavit(s) of eligibility and release of liability within 14 days of notification. A noncompliance within that time period or the return of any notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. In the event of any other noncompliance with rules and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Taxes, if any, are the winner’s sole responsibility.
RANDOM HOUSE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE PRIZES OF EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE IF PRIZES, AS STATED ABOVE, BECOME UNAVAILABLE.
V. RESERVATIONS
By participating, winner and winner’s parent/legal guardian agrees that Random House, it’s parent company, assigns, subsidiaries or affiliates, and advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by winner for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person, including death, and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, misuse, or use of the prizes, or participation in this sweepstakes By entering the sweepstakes, the winner consent to of the use of the winner’s name, likeness, and biographical data for publicity and promotional purposes on behalf of Random House Inc. with no additional compensation or further permission (except where prohibited by law). Other contestant names will NOT be used for subsequent mail solicitation. For the names of the 5 first prize winners, available after September 15, 2004, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: “Deluxe Eragon Internet Sweepstakes” Random House Children’s Books, 1745 Broadway Mail Drop 10-4, New York, NY 10019. Washington and Vermont residents may omit return postage.
