Zero

By: Tom Leveen

BOOK TALK

Zero (aka Amanda) was hoping to study art in Chicago. However, when she found out she was ineligible for a scholarship, her dream dried up like the Arizona desert she lives in.  Now she is facing the summer with no job, no best friend, and an intolerable home life.  She discovers a new purpose when she introduces herself to the drummer of an indie rock band and signs up for an art class at the local community college.  While Zero seems tough on the outside, she is full of self-doubt and skepticism on the inside.  Encouraged by her new boyfriend, she gains confidence in herself and her art.  When an opportunity comes along that could solve many of her immediate problems, but perhaps create more in the long run, will she be strong enough to make the right decision?
