Wonder

By: R. J. Palacio

BOOK TALK

Have you ever been bullied for being different?  Or maybe you have bullied someone else for being different.  Maybe you are the person who befriends the kid who is different.  No matter the role you assume, you will relate to the characters in Wonder.  When Auggie, who has a severe facial deformity, attends school for the first time at age eleven, the students at Beecher Prep all act and react to him.  Those who bully Auggie add as much to his life as his new found friends, and Auggie shows them all how to be courageous and kind.  After an attack on Auggie and his friends at a school camp-out, the students at Beecher Prep make a surprising discovery.
