Magic Tree House
Junie B. Jones
Life is about as perfect as it can get for Lane Cisco. She is starting her first year at Rio Chama Middle School and has just been chosen as one of the sixth grade class captains. Why is this so great? Well, it means you get to be late to class for “captain” meetings, help decide on the theme for the school dance, and hang around with the popular eighth grade captains, too. What could possibly go wrong? Angelina Mint Taraval is what could go wrong. Lane’s cousin, Angelina, moves in with Lane’s family for a month while her parents are traveling, and she turns Lane’s life at home and school upside down. She insists on wearing her glow in the dark wolf shirt to school, not caring one bit whether or not people will make fun of her. She has no idea what “girl code” means, nor does she care about following it. She’ll do anything at home to get in good with Lane’s parents, making Lane seem ungrateful and selfish. When Lane’s friend Ava devises a plan to ruin Angelina, Lane wants to go along with her, but she doesn’t necessarily want to crush her. Once the plan is in motion, however, there’s nothing Lane can do but watch in horror and hope Angelina, even though she is weird, will one day forgive her.
