Magic Tree House
Junie B. Jones
Life is good for fifth grader Sonia Nadhamuniai. There are only two weeks until summer, when she can spend more time with best friend, Sam, and they can plan for next year’s play at their private school. When her Indian-born father loses his job, Sonia’s family has to make adjustments. And while her Jewish mother picks up more teaching assignments, private school is no longer in the picture. At public school Sonia experiences cliques and questions about her heritage for the first time. But she also has new opportunities: cheerleading and popularity. Just when Sonia begins to adjust to this new life, her dad disappears, making her question everything about her new found friends and her family.
