The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls

By: Julie Schumacher

BOOK TALK

  1.  Chic Lit: A genre of literature that appeals mainly to teen girls, focusing on high school problems including, but not limited to, boys and families.
  2. Alternative Narrative: Fiction disguised in an alternative form that parses the story into sections including, but not limited to, high school English assignments.
  3. AP English Summer Reading Lists: A list of mostly depressing and confusing literature assigned to ruin your summer and give mothers an excuse to form a book club forcing daughters to read with classmates they don’t know or like.

Julie Schumacher mixes all three in a delightful and moving story of 11th grade girls trying to find their identity within The Unbearable book Club for Unsinkable Girls.
