The Girl in the Park

By: Mariah Fredericks

BOOK TALK

Kids born into wealth have it easier than everyone else, right?  Then why does Rain’s friend turn up dead?  When it comes to teenagers, wealth sometimes creates more problems than it solves.  Even at the top of the pecking order, there’s still a pecking order.  While Rain is mostly content to observe from the sidelines at her elite prep school, her former best friend Wendy pushes her way to the top by going after other girls’ boyfriends.  Not the best way to make friends, but a great way to gain a not-so-nice reputation.  So when she is discovered murdered near a playground in Central Park, most believe she got what she deserved.  However, Rain knows the real Wendy and doesn’t think everything is as it seems. After she helps to get a boy she suspects is guilty arrested, she finds new evidence that points in a different direction.  Now she needs to convince the police and somehow manage to keep herself safe.  Maybe she’s a lot tougher than she thought.
