Magic Tree House
Junie B. Jones
Long distance romance is perfect for junior Gwendolyn “Dough” Rielly. Especially since her boyfriend, Wish, can’t see the seventy pounds she’s gained over the past three years. But who could blame her? Her best friend had moved away, leaving her the poor baker’s daughter among the rich, mean New Jersey island girls. A donut every now and then made life manageable. So when Wish e-mails that he’s moving back from California for junior year, Gwen is sure the romance is over. But despite Wish being bronzed and god-like and Gwen being a bit more… doughy than last time he saw her, Wish remains devoted. And a little bit odd. He’s wearing long sleeved black shirts in the heat, worshipping the sun, and moping when it rains. Christian, the edgy new employee at the bakery, tries to convince Gwen that Wish’s behavior might be connected to an astrological California cult he once belonged to. But Gwen isn’t about to dump the hottest boy in town, and lose her newly discovered popularity. However, when the weather on her New Jersey island starts to go berserk, Gwen wonders if it’s worth being starstruck over Wish.
