Alexis Hart is about to turn twelve and rejects her mother’s idea that she should act more “ladylike.” Outer space is much more interesting, and she likes building the moon station with her older brother. The problem is that Chuck is misguided and a bad influence on Alex.  Then Alex strikes up a friendship with Captain Epps, an army scientist, who moves in next door.  Captain Epps challenges the budding scientists to a sailing trip with her.  What happens when Alex and Chuck sail slightly off course?  Are the stars within their reach?
