Precious Bones

BOOK TALK

Bones is a 10-year-old living in a strange world: the Florida swamps.  Her everyday life is full of alligators, black bears, and bobcats.  During the summer, Bones and her best friend, Little Man, have a routine of hunting and fishing.  But this summer, two Yankee real estate agents come calling on her family's land, and only leave when her father chases them off with a gun.  When a storm blows in and Bones and Little Man find something terrifying in the Loo-chee swamp, the evidence of foul play points to none other than Bones' father.  With all of the locals asking questions and pointing fingers, and a sheriff as slow as molasses, it's up to Bones to take matters into her own hands and prove her father is innocent.
