Mason Dixon: Pet Disasters

By: Claudia Mills

BOOK TALK

Have you ever wished you were an only child?  Well, let me tell you…it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.Your parents spend way too much time focused on you and what they think you need – like a pet. I was allergic to Cat, Hamster ran away, and I overfed Goldfish and he died.  Now my best friend, Brody is a different story; he loves animals and takes really good care of them, but he can’t have anything but a goldfish because of his dad’s allergies. So when my parents decide I need a dog, Brody comes to the shelter with us and he falls in love with a three-legged dog. Okay, now I have Dog, who slobbers and smells bad, and in general makes a mess. But something happens to me… I finally have a pet that isn’t a disaster.
