Listening for Lucca

By: Suzanne LaFleur

BOOK TALK

Siena dreams of the past vividly, but she “feels” a connection with the former owners of her family’s big house on the coast of Maine.  Siena knows that her brother’s silence is tied to the past and she uses her unique gift of connecting with the past to find the key to her brother Lucca’s voice.  Sarah, a young girl who lived in her house sixty years before, “speaks” to Siena through writing and slowly Siena unfolds the past pain of the family who owned her home.  After a summer on the beach, making new friends, and righting a wrong in the past, Siena gives Lucca a gift only she can give him.
