Magic Tree House
Junie B. Jones
A family of mermaids. It evokes memories of fairy tales and fanciful endings. The truth could not be further from this myth. As a merman Calder tries to deny his murderous tendencies by refusing himself the pleasure a kill would bring. Unlike his sisters, Calder was born a human who upon his death was reinvigorated by mermaids. His enjoyment of the sunny beaches of the Bahamas is tempered by the constant urge to return home to the icy waters of Lake Superior. When he is summoned by his sisters, it is to evoke revenge on the man responsible for the death of their mother. Calder longs for freedom from his sisters, but that privilege comes at a cost. Is he willing to pay that price?
