Laugh with the Moon

By: Shana Burg

BOOK TALK

Thirteen-year-old Clare Silver is still mourning the death of her mother when her father takes her to Malawi for sixty-four days while he provides medical help to the villagers.  As she forms friendships, Clare gradually embraces the culture and even teaches English in the school.  It is Memory and her little brother, Innocent, that mean the most to Clare.  Then something goes horribly wrong.  How does Clare deal with more grief?  What does Memory teach her about “laughing with the moon?”
