Magic Tree House
Junie B. Jones
Ceejay and her older brother Bobby have always been close. They both feel like they were born into the wrong family. They enjoyed being badasses together in high school… not in a mean way though. Then Bobby gets in real trouble and is given a choice of jail or the army. After he comes home from a tour in Iraq, he’s not the same Bobby who left. Ceejay still has his back, but she doesn’t understand what’s going on with him. Her dream of leaving their parents’ home and getting a place together dies away as she watches Bobby make bad choices with girlfriends, alcohol, and drugs. He seems to be headed down the lost highway with another war veteran who is the town nutcracker. Throughout the summer of her brother’s return, her view of family and friendship is frequently challenged. Maybe she and Bobby weren’t the misfits they thought they were. However, convincing Bobby of that takes almost more than Ceejay bargained for.
