Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World of Food: Brains, Bugs, and Blood Sausage

By: Andrew Zimmern

Book Talk

Are you hungry?  No, I mean really hungry?  Are you so hungry you’d eat just about anything put in front of you?  If so, I have just the meal for you.  How about some aged cheese from Granada?  You know, the kind that is set out in the sun just long enough to produce large maggots, which you eat right along with the cheese.  Not too much into cheese, you say?  Well, how about some  steamed shark head,  found in Singapore and steamed ever-so-carefully so that the cartilage just melts in your mouth?   Hmm. You don’t like fish?  I know the perfect meal for you!  Japan’s frog sashimi!  You choose your live frog and he is skinned right in front of you.  Add a little soy sauce and lemon juice and voila!  Or if you prefer, you can dip his still-beating heart in the sauces for another tasty treat!  What?  You don’t want any of these?  Well, read Andrew Zimmer’s Bizarre World of Food and I’m sure you can find something to tantalize your taste buds!
