Alvin Ho: Allergic to Birthday Parties, Science Projects, and Other Man-made Catastrophes

By: Lenore Look
illustrated by: LeUyen Pham

BOOK TALK

Alvin doesn’t really like birthday parties. They are unpredictable and you have to be on your best behavior the whole time. He did want to get invited to Hobson’s party though because he wanted to dress up like an Indian and play King Philip’s War. However, the invitation he gets is to a GIRL’S party! How is he supposed to know how to behave with a bunch of girls? Desperate situations call for desperate measures! Can he figure out what to do to get out of one party and get invited to the one he really wants to go to?  Find out what miracle-in-a-jar, a lightning strike, breaking a world record, goldfish crackers, and throwing up have to do with getting what Alvin wants. Don’t forget your PDK!
