A Million Miles from Boston

Book Talk

Lucy can’t wait for summer at the Point!  Her family spends every summer in this idyllic and sacred spot on the coast of Maine. Ever since her mom died from cancer when Lucy was six, it’s been the one place where her memories of her have stayed strong.  All of the other families who return year after year are like one big extended family. This summer, Lucy doesn’t even want to think about the worries of starting middle school in the fall or her dad’s new girlfriend.  Change is in the air and Lucy is rebelling against it every step of the way.  The family of an obnoxious boy from school has bought a house at the Point and her dad’s girlfriend, Julia, is even spending more and more time with them.  How can Lucy keep things the same when life is moving on?
