Imagine
moving from New York City to a small southern town in Tennessee
where the Confederate flag is the high school's insignia and the
name of the school team is the Rebels. When Kate and her family
move to Redford, her liberal views immediately embroil her in a
controversy over a petition to change the traditions. Then, she
meets and falls in love with Jack Redford, whose ancestors built
the town and represent everything Southern. Both Jack and Kate,
and by extension their families, are forced to face prejudice and
bigotry. When Jack's mother sends him to military school to keep
him away from Kate, Jack is forced to make some tough decisions.
And make them he does, but neither Kate nor Jack realize that only
a tragedy will pull the town together, and the cost for peace will
be paid in blood.
