Eragon's
Guide to Alagaesia
Christopher Paolini
Hardcover | Knopf Books for Young Readers | 978-0-375-85823-9
| November 2009 | $24.99 | Ages 9 Up |
Run, do
not walk to the bookstore to order this treasure, for this will
be the most favored holiday gift of all. From the pen of Paolini,
this magnificent guide to Alagaesia is a beautiful work with incredible
illustrations by several artists. He introduces us to the natural
history of this world with samples of fur and terrifying drawings
and descriptions of werecats, bears, and wolves that prowl the land.
He also beguiles us with the beauty of the amazing landscapes of
forests, valleys, and mountains. One of my favorite sections was
of the peoples and races that inhabit the world of Alagaesia from
the elves to the dwarves; however, it is the pages on Ellesmera
that make me want to dwell amongst the elves. Of course, it is the
magical creatures known as dragons that will most amaze you.
