Imagine
your only parent leaving you for the summer, claiming that she needs
time to “find herself.” Frances is looking forward to the summer—hanging
out with her best friend Agnes and going to Camp Whitman . But when
her mom announces that she's going to Mountain Ash, a spiritual
retreat in the middle of Oregon, Frances sees her plans come to
a screeching halt. After convincing her mom to let her stay with
her strange Aunt Blue, Frances's mother and younger brother Everett
leave for the next eight weeks. When Frances starts getting letters
from her brother that sound strange, she wonders if the retreat
is really a cult. Determined to help Everett and her mother, Frances
must come up with a plan. The only problem is Everett is missing
and no one knows where he has gone. Can Frances find him, or will
she be too late?
