Maggie's
Door
Patricia Reilly Giff
Hardcover | Wendy Lamb Books | 0-385-32658-0 | September 2003
| $15.95 | Ages 8-12 |
Before
sailing to America , Nory has no idea of the trials that await her
as she sets out alone to walk to Galway to find her family. Along
the way, she finds her brother Patch and her friend Sean Red's mother
in a barn, but there is no sign of her best friend Sean Red. Nory
and Patch continue on to Galway , but Sean Red's mother turns back
convinced that Sean Red has died. When Nory and Patch arrive in
Galway , Granda finds her, but her sister and her Da have already
left for America , leaving the three to begin the difficult journey
alone. Nory, Patch, and Granda sail from Galway to Liverpool , and
board a ship bound for America , the ship that will take them to
Brooklyn , New York , so they can find Maggie's door and be reunited
with their family. As they travel, they experience some heartaches
and trials as well as joy as they meet and help people along the
way. You must read Maggie's Door to continue your journey
with Nory.
