PICTURES
OF HOLLIS WOODS
Patricia Reilly Giff
Hardcover Wendy Lamb Books | September 2002 | $15.95 | 0-385-32655-6
| Ages 8-13

Can you imagine what it would be like to be an
orphan and move around from home to home, nobody wanting you and
everybody saying how much trouble you were? Sadly, that is the life
of Hollis Woods, but Hollis takes some comfort from her drawing.
She is very gifted, and those who see her draw are impressed with
her pictures —even if they don’t like her.
Finally the day comes when Hollis finds
a picture-perfect family: a mom, a dad, and a brother, who love
her and want her to be a part of their home permanently. Hollis
can hardly believe her luck—but when she is the happiest,
tragedy strikes and she loses what she wants most. Hollis runs hard
and fast, from the family that loves and wants her. Will she ever
stop running and find the home she desires?
