Imagine living at a time when a variety of gods
and goddesses controlled everything you did, and you didn’t
really know what made them smile on you to bless you or frown at
you to curse you. Such is Anaxandra’s time. She was a normal
child, happy with her family, when she was suddenly whisked away
to a king who needs a companion for his crippled daughter, Callisto.
Anaxandra makes the best of her situation
and learns to love her new family—only to witness their savage
murder by an enemy king. When she is saved by yet another king,
she lies to him and steals the heritage of Princess Callisto so
that she will not be made a slave. This king, King Menelaus is married
to the beautiful half-goddess half-mortal Helen, and loves Anaxandra
as his daughter. But Queen Helen does not believe Anaxandra to be
Callisto and despises her, wishing her harm. When Helen betrays
Menelaus to marry Paris of Troy, Anaxandra travels to Troy and has
many adventures, defying the gods and risking her life to save others.
Anaxandra lives to see the great armies of Menelaus and Agamemnom
storm Troy to bring Helen back to Sparta and to restore the treasures
that the Trojans stole.
