Danny and his brother,
Beau, live in the small town of Hog ’s Hollow. His dad fears that
the Vietnam War will soon become a nuclear war and begins to build
a large fallout shelter. His mom dreams of writing the next Gone
with the Wind and keeps her journals hidden in the laundry
room. Beau loves everything about space, and Danny just wants to
have a dog. When a tragic accident occurs, their world changes in
an instant, and Danny takes in a dog that he believes to be human.
It is only when Danny runs to protect his beloved dog from harm
that the story reaches its climax. This book promises to become
a much-loved classic.
