Great Reads for the Common Core

Welcome to Random House Children’s Books dedicated hub for educator guides designed to help teachers prepare for the Common Core State Standards Initiative. Check back monthly for book lists and resources.

Common Core Resources

Browse through our complete collection of educator guides and other resources prepared by teachers and librarians to excite students about literature while incorporating the new standards.

Download our 2013 Common Core Brochure. The Text Exemplars were chosen by the Common Core State Standards Initiative Team to serve as examples of the types of texts that could be used by an educator to meet the standards. The choices should serve as useful guideposts in helping educators select texts of similar complexity, quality, and range for their own classrooms. They expressly do not represent a partial or complete reading list.
