ABOUT THIS BOOK

THE REISSUE OF the classic Grimm tale of a beautiful young girl with skin as white as snow, lips and cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony is breathtakingly realized by acclaimed artist Charles Santore in this lush, lovely picture book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

In the 19th century, Jakob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm (1786–1859) Grimm collected folktales as part of a larger study of German culture. Their belief that folktales were reflections of the popular mind resulted in many works together including Grimm’s Fairy Tales.

Charles Santore’s illustrations are part of the permanent collections of the Brandywine River Museum, The Free Library of Philadelphia, and The Museum of Modern Art.
