“It has always been my intent to publish collections of short stories that are lively, entertaining, insightful, and of high quality—new stories, not ones selected from previously published sources—about teenage activities and concerns, written by the most highly respected writers in the field of literature for young people.”—Donald R. Gallo

Don Gallo is the recipient of the ALAN Award for outstanding contributions to the field of adolescent literature, as well as several other state honors and awards.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Donald R. Gallo is an adjunct instructor of education at Cleveland State University. He retired from Central Connecticut State University where, as a professor of English for 24 years, he taught courses in literature for young adults, intermediate composition, and writing for teachers. Prior to that, he was a reading specialist in Jefferson County, Colorado, and a professor at the Denver Center of the University of Colorado.

Dr. Gallo has been president of the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the National Council of Teachers of English (ALAN), vice-chair of the Conference on English Education, a trustee of the NCTE Research Foundation, a member of the NCTE Editorial Board, and an editor of the Connecticut English Journal.

The American Library Association named Donald R. Gallo’s first edited short story collection, Sixteen, one of the 100 Best Books for Young Adults published in the past 25 years, and a survey of librarians published in VOYA selected Gallo’s Join In as the best anthology of 1993.

Gallo’s publication No Easy Answers is an anthology of 16 original short stories about moral and ethical issues, written by award-winning authors of young adult novels, and Time Capsule features 10 stories by award-winning authors that explore a different decade of the 20th century through the eyes of teens with concerns and emotions similar to those of young adults today.
