General FAQs:

  • How much can I expect my signed edition to appreciate in value?
    While we can't predict the precise future value of any signed editions, we do think that these handsome editions will increase in value for some time to come.
  • How can I be sure of authenticity and endorsement by Random House and the authors?
    Random House's included letter of authenticty and custom signature page guarantee the authenticity and author participation of all Signed Edition copies.
  • Payment
    Random House accepts credit card payments only.  We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
  • Can I buy more than one book at once?
    Customers will be able to buy up to 3 signed copies of a title in the series at once.
  • Shipping
    For orders placed through, we ship to any address in the United States. Generally it takes 2-3 business days from when you place the order until your books are shipped from our warehouse. A confirmation will be sent to you via email as the items ship.
  • Refund/Return Policy
    Random House will issue a full refund (excluding shipping and handling fees) for your online purchase if you:
    1. Return new books, unopened CDs, cassettes, VHS tapes, DVDs and other products in their original condition.
    2. Include the packing slip of the package you received.
    3. Mail your return within 30 days of the shipment date listed on your packing slip. shall have no obligation to refund or return any items it receives that are not in compliance with these three requirements.

    Important Notifications:
    Refunds cannot be issued for any prepackaged products that are returned opened or have obvious signs of use (unless they are found to be defective).
    No credits will be granted for any item that is returned after 30 days from the shipment date listed on your packing slip.
    The cost of postage for all returns is the responsibility of the consumer.
    Only products purchased from the website fall under the Returns Policy above. We don't give refunds for books bought at your local bookseller or at another bookseller or retail store.
    Returns made to will be credited only in the form of the original payment method.

    We recommend shipping all returns via a traceable carrier (UPS, FEDEX, DHL) and retaining the carrier's tracking number until you receive your credit or refund. We regret that we cannot assume any responsibility for unreceived returns shipped via a non-traceable carrier (USPS).
  • Can I request a specific number in the series (i.e., out of the 50)?
    Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for purchase of a specific number in the series.
  • Can I get a personalized signature?
    Each signed edition includes the author's unique signature. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for personalized messages from the author.
  • Can I have information on the date of each signature?
    Information on the date of each signature will be posted on Random House's Signed Editions website.
  • Can my letter of authentication be personalized?
    Unfortunately, included letters of authenication cannot be customized or personalized.
  • Can I get my signed edition gift-wrapped or include a note?
    We currently do not offer gift services such as wrapping, gift receipts, or enclosure of personal messages.
  • What does a signed edition come with?
    A Random House signed edition includes:

    • A custom-designed signature page, embossed with Random House's historic logo
    • Authentic author signature
    • Unique serialization detail
    • An official letter of authentication, printed on archival-quality paper and embossed with Random House's historic logo
    • An collector's band to further ensure each edition's value

  • What is the condition of this edition?
    Each signed first edition is in mint condition, direct from Random House.
  • Is this the original ISBN?
    Each book in the Signed Editions series is a first edition and bears the original ISBN of its publication.
  • Where can I see photos of this product?

  • How can I write an author?
    You should send your letter to the author in care of the publicity department of the author's publisher at the address below. (You'll find the publisher listed on the book's spine and copyright page.)

  • How is embossment created?
    Our historic logo has been hand-illustrated and embossed by Random House's own art department.
  • Are all signatures done by hand?
    Each signature is signed with the author's own pen.
  • How are bookplates created?
    Each bookplate is produced in-house and created by renowned designer Carole Lowenstein exclusively for Random House.
  • Are signed editions available through

  • Where else can I find signed copies of Random House titles?
    Random House sells signed copies of books every year through and at special events, such as bookstore signings. To search for upcoming author events in your area, please click here.
  • Can I suggest or request a title or author for the next series?
    We currently cannot accommodate requests or suggestions for future titles in the Signed Editions series. However, Random House will continue to select a diverse and distinguished array of authors for participation in the future.
  • Why can't I buy more than three Signed Edition copies at auction at once?
    Due to the limited amount of Signed Edition copies, purchase of multiple Signed Edition copies on will be limited to a maximum of three per person. This limit allows Random House to make signed copies available to the wide public.
  • How can I track my order placed through
    Once your order becomes available for shipping, we will send you a notice that the item has shipped.  If the shipping method you chose provides tracking, the email will contain the tracking information or you can view tracking information on the site under the ACCOUNT menu or by clicking here
  • Do you accept international orders through
    Unfortunately, we are unable to accept consumer orders for eCommerce from outside the United States. For international orders, please email us at or visit our International Sales website. You can also contact International Sales by phone at 1-410-848-1900 or by fax at 1-410-386-7049.
  • How do I cancel an order placed through
    To cancel an order placed through

    • Click on the "account" icon in the top right corner of the screen.
    • If you are not currently logged in, you will be prompted to enter your id and password.
    • On the "My Account" screen that comes up next, choose 'View Order History/Order Tracking.'
    • You will be presented with a list of orders you have placed with Find the order you would like to cancel. If the status is "Processing", you should be able to cancel it by clicking on the order number, and then clicking on "CANCEL ORDER." This will be displayed next to the Status if the order is still processing.

    Note: The "Cancel" button will remain on the order page as long as the status on the order is "Processing." As soon as our system ships the order, the status will change to "Shipped," and the order can no longer be cancelled.
