I will recommend it as a "good read" to all my girlfriends. A movie should and will probably be made of it. It has the suspense and plot needed for that purpose plus some visually magnetic features. The lovely exotic birds come to mind. I can already see what a great cinematographer could do with that flowers-on-the-woman scene (like American Beauty). On the other hand it is not the kind of book our reading groups take up. We prefer less plot-driven books with more literary merit and discussion potential. Nancy Pickard's writing is still a mite close to earlier entertainment fiction for serious reading. Her next book will no doubt evolve another step or two toward that level.
