Nancy Pickard did an outstanding job of getting us involved in the lives and families of Small Plains. The book flowed easily with a few detours that developed a very sensative and compelling story. She, Nancy Pickard, placed us, the reader, in Kansas and it felt so comfortable we didn't want to leave.
