This is the beauty of books and reading. But the lessons learned although not first-hand, are real in the mind-eye of the audience. I've read books about accounts of "meeting" a grizzly, visiting Europe or rafting the Amazon. No, the chance encouners of these events are yet to cross my path, put through the stories, I gain an insight into that world. That world is no longer a stranger. I'm a fan of Cheryl's and very much, enjoyed reading her essay...so many of us readers can relate.
