I really loved the book having purchased it originally to give to a friend who was having surgery and needed small books to read in recovery. She retured the book to me and when I read it I purchased 6 copies to give away at Christmas time. The copy I currently have is on loan to a friend whose book club had featured it this month. I was moved deeply by the simple story and intrigued by the the history of Guernsey which I will follow up. It was very sad Mary Ann Schaffer did not live to see the results of her work. This was one book among just a few that I hated seeing come to an end. Yes I have read it. My thanks to Annie Barrows.

While I thoroughly enjoyed "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" I was disappointed that the authors made no reference to the anti-semetic laws The States passed during the German occupation and the aissistance the islanders gave the Germans in deoporting the island's Jews.

Hi Annie:

Just finished the book ~~ and LOVED it! I'm sending it on to my Mom, who emigrated from England, after marrying a Canadian soldier.
(I was also born there just after the war's end) I've never felt such a loss at having a book come to an end. Am already planning a holiday trip to Guernsey, with my Mom.

One question, for you, Annie ~~~ Why is it only Americans who are eligible for the contests promoted @ the back of the book? That was my only disappointment.

Your Aunt Mary Anne sounds like someone I would have loved to meet. You look so much alike in the coloured photograph!

Will definitely be checking out your children's series, Annie; and will be watching for your next novel too!! Thank you for such a beautiful book.

Take care, Annie

My sister lent me the book to read and I loved it. We have even made Potato Peel Pie twice in the last week and have almost perfected our recipe for it. I've even been looking at websites for Guernsey.
I do wish this contest was open to Canadian residents.
Good luck to all the entrants.

A delightful idea which I will share with my book club friends in hopes some will take up keyboard and enter. My grief is that Mary Ann Shaffer died without sharing with us all those stories that were surely within her creative brain. That she wrote and Annie Barrows completed "Guernsey" is a joy for those of us who invest ourselves in the writing of others and live with the characters they create, if only briefly.

I have always wanted to write and maybe this will be my chance to try. I wish I could submit right now but I have time to work on it and will submit an essay. Even if I don't win, I will have had the experience of writing. I am reading an excellent book right now that would work for it but also have others I've read. I am a reviewer so read about some interesting places and events. Now if I can only successfully put them on paper.
