A very Entertaining book. It was fascinating how Etta's character is developed. I would highly recommend this book.

I am not a reader of Westerns. So when this book showed up on my doorstep, I was prepared to read a few pages and put it down. That didn't happen. I loved the story of an incredible woman. What a wonderful story. It was an adventure story, a romance and a historical novel all rolled into one. ... (continued)

I loved this book - what a fascinating story and Etta lived life to the fullest! There was love w/out all the details so prevalent in many books; she managed to survive in a "man's" world and yet remain who she was. I remember seeing the movie and now can relate to it more. When I started this book I didn't expect to like it but I enjoyed the characters and the story. Any time a book takes me to a time and a place that I know very little about and makes me feel a part of it, I'm happy. It was a nice, easy read and sometimes that's all that's required! Definitely a "can't put it down" book. Kolpan has gotten into the mind of a woman. He has taken a few known details and woven them into a love story without erotica. How refreshing!You can actually feel Etta's pain at the loss of her man and that resonates throughout the rest of the book.
