“Random House Inc. is adopting the agency model for e-book sales in the United States effective March 1, 2011. Going forward, Random House will set consumer prices for the e-books we publish, and we will provide retailers with a commission for each sale.” Read the full statement.

The membership of the National Book Critics Circle has voted eight 2010 Random House, Inc. titles as finalists among the five best titles in their publishing categories. Winners for these annual Awards will be announced at the Thursday, March 10 NBCC ceremony in Manhattan.

Random House congratulates Clare Vanderpool, whose Moon over Manifest has been awarded the prestigious Newbery Medal for 2011 by the American Library Association’s Association of Library Service for Children. This is the second straight year a Random House author has been received the Newbery Medal. Random House also congratulates its dozen authors who have received American Library Association awards this year.

December 25 and 26 were the two biggest eBook sales days ever for Random House, Inc., the largest U.S. English-language trade book publisher. Combined eBook sales across e-retailers on December 25th and 26th rose more than 300% over last year’s sales for the same two-day period, which had been Random House’s best two-day eBook sales period ever.
