Section One: Childhood Early in the story, the changeling who replaces Henry Day hears late '40s pop songs on the radio, and this music stirs distant memories from when he was stolen as a child. You can hear two of the tracks mentioned in the novel on "Small Fry: Capitol Sings Kids' Songs for Grownups" -- including Nat King Cole's "There's a Train Out for Dreamland" and Frank de Vol's "Teddy Bear's Picnic." Proficiency at the toy piano leads to lessons in the city, and Henry quickly regains his prodigious skills. The soundtrack to "Thirty two short films about Glenn Gould" complements the prodigy section of the book, with Gould's wild rendition of Bach's "Invention No 13 in A Minor" in particular standing in quite well.
