Saving Oneida
The Gazette Xtra reports on a website trying to preserve the Oneida language.
Oneida is in the Iroquoian family of languages and is more distantly related to Cherokee. It has an extensive history of oral literature and only has been written down in the past few generations.
The website can be found here. We love the idea of website preservation of these languages; not only does it promote more speakers to learn, but it also allows people all around the world to be exposed to endangered and dying languages. (SUZANNE)
