Spanish Language Resources

Spanish is spoken by more than 300 million people worldwide, and is the official or national language of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Spanish is also spoken in Andorra, Belize, and the Philippines. In the United States, Spanish is widely spoken in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and San Antonio, among other cities, and is used officially as a second language in the state of New Mexico.

Russian Language Resources

Russian is spoken by about 145 million people worldwide, with nearly 118 million of those living in Russia. Apart from being the official language of Russia, Russian is also an official language in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgysztan. In addition, Russian is spoken by a significant percentage of the populations of other former Soviet countries, including Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Russian is a Slavic language, and uses the Cyrillic alphabet.

Chinese Language Resources

Mandarin Chinese is spoken as a native language by about 900 million people. It’s the most widely spoken language in the world, the official language of mainland China and Taiwan, and one of the official languages of Singapore. The other major Chinese dialect, Cantonese, is spoken in Hong Kong, Macau, the Guangdong (“Canton”) province and Guangxi autonomous region in China, and by many Chinese living outside of China. However, these resources will only cover Mandarin Chinese.
