Tulip Tree "Yellow Poplar"
Liriodendron tulipifera

Magnolia Family
110'. Crown broadly conical. Leaves 5", saddle-shaped, 4- or 6-lobed. Bark grayish to brown, furrowed. Flowers 3 1/2", bright green with orange basal splotch, tulip-shaped; bloom: Apr. - May. Fruit 3", brown; in cone-like clusters of winged seeds. Habitat: Rich woods, streamsides.
